Students

Yesterday, March 26th, marked a monumental occasion for Shoreline Unified as we hosted our first annual reclassification ceremony at Tomales High School. It was an evening filled with celebration, connection, and pride as we honored over 60 students for their remarkable achievements. At this first ceremony, we honored students who achieved reclassification from August 2022 to February 2024, meeting the rigorous criteria set forth by the state of California.

The ceremony was a testament to the resilience and determination of our students, showcasing their dedication to academic excellence. We were privileged to have Dr. Osvaldo Palomares, a former SUSD student who attended Bodega Bay School, Tomales Elementary, and Tomales High School, as our keynote speaker. Dr. Palomares shared his inspiring journey as an English Learner and his path through college and medical school. Now a doctor at Kaiser Permanente, he returned home with excitement to celebrate the achievements of our students.

Each student being honored received a medal and certificate, symbolizing their hard work and accomplishment. The event was lives-treamed over Zoom, allowing friends and family from across the district to join in the celebration. Following the awards ceremony, we hosted a reception for our families, complete with delicious food and lively music.

As we reflect on this incredible evening, we are filled with excitement and pride. We look forward to next year's ceremony as we continue to celebrate the success of our students and the supportive community that surrounds them.
