Dear SUSD Community,

As are many of you, Shoreline Unified School District is closely following the recent developments surrounding the ranches in the Point Reyes National Seashore and their potential impact on our community.  We are deeply saddened by the potential loss of any student or family who could be forced to leave Shoreline as result of this settlement.  Every Shoreline student and family is an integral part of our district and our community. Without each of you, we would be missing a vital part of who we are.

We recognize that for our students to learn and thrive, they need to feel safe, cared for, and supported. This situation brings great uncertainty to our community, and we are committed to standing by our students. Shoreline staff is dedicated to connecting students and families to district and community resources that are available for social-emotional support and advocacy, while also continuing to educate with compassion each and every day.

Our district is strengthened by the presence of our families who live and work on the Point Reyes National Seashore ranches, and we stand firmly with you in your efforts to remain a part of our community.  We are in communication with county officials and community organizations and will support and join advocacy efforts to keep our communities whole.  Like many of you, we believe that there are options available to support anyone displaced by this settlement, should the will to make those options available exist.  As a school district, we see our responsibility in remaining up-to-date information on community services and resources available to our families, and bridging connection to those resources whenever possible.  In addition, we will continue to tell anyone who will listen about the irreplaceable value that each student and family brings to our school community.

Together, we will continue to provide a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all, despite the uncertainty that lays ahead.  Please know that we are here for you and will work alongside you every step of the way.

In community,

Adam Jennings

Superintendent
